The main challenge for the local transit agency in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria was to provide an all-in-one mobility system through which multiple transit options in the city would operate seamlessly. There had been a prior investment in a CAD/AVL/RTPI system but it lacked a mobile ticketing option. The Modeshift Fare Collection System was able to overcome this issue, among others,  which led to improved riders’ satisfaction.

PROBLEMS
SOLUTIONS
In need of a unified mobility system that is MaaS-ready and interoperable
Modeshift’s MaaS software was integrated seamlessly with the existing third party system, which allowed Stara Zagora to build upon our prior investments. A mobile application was developed, allowing riders to use public transportation solely on their smart devices.
Low passenger satisfaction with the service.
Modeshift transformed the old transit system by designing a straight-forward passenger experience and providing new equipment in buses, as well as a user-friendly software and an app.
Slow economy and population growth.
Modeshift’s technical solution for mobility is transforming public transport and it’s only the first of many steps towards Stara Zagora’s ambition to become the first smart city in the country.
