The transit system in Bistrita, Romania (population of 70,000 people) was in dire need of a revamp due to low customer satisfaction and low usage rates, but they were reluctant to invest due to many failures they had witnessed. However, having seen the flexibility of the Modeshift system, they decided to implement the full Modeshift product which quickly transformed public transportation into a much more convenient service and increased ridership from the first month.

PROBLEMS
SOLUTIONS
Low passenger satisfaction.
Modeshift managed to improve passenger satisfaction by providing an intuitive way to purchase tickets and use the public transportation system.
Low ridership.
By increasing passenger satisfaction, Modeshift Fare Collection increased ridership with 10-20% in the first month after implementation.
High risk operation for the local authorities.
By providing a free pilot, the Modeshift team showed the local transit agency the efficiency of the system in real time.
